Space is not the limit for Jeff Bezos. According to Reuters, Amazon is testing humanoid robots on their Amazon's Lab126 research facility in San Francisco. The report indicates that bots will be working in their warehouse facilities.

Amazon gave a little more insight to this initiative through their X account recently.

"We're developing foundation models that will allow fulfillment center robots to understand and act on natural language commands. Imagine saying 'Pick up that yellow tote' and having a robot do it instantly. The future of robotics is here, and it speaks your language."

The question for many Amazon employees is, will they take our jobs?

Amazon is reportedly accelerating software development for its humanoid robots, with the long-term goal of replacing human delivery personnel, according to Reuters.

As of today, human drivers are responsible for driving and delivering packages on the company´s 20,000 Rivian electric vans across the US, so if robots take over, where would all those workers do?

MIT professor Daron Acemoglu conducted the study “Robots and Jobs: Evidence from U.S. Labor Markets," which concludes that industrial robots do have a negative impact on workers.

The researchers found that for every robot added per 1,000 workers in the U.S., wages decline by 0.42% and the employment-to-population ratio goes down by 0.2 percentage points — to date, this means the loss of about 400,000 jobs.

What does this mean to advertising?

Thankfully, nothing yet. Multicultural representation needs a voice, a human voice, the pulse of tradition and the wit of innovate. If AI can do it, then it was trained but someone who already did it. The key to long lasting creativity in the ad world is innovation that has not been thought of to train AI.

At Hypeads, we are all about new. Out with the old, trained, AI cliches (though we embrace AI to deliver killer programmatic timing and graphics)
